The Lion’s Den Business as Mission essay is an important tool that attempts to capture the management team’s dedication to these principles and is used as a critical starting point in accepting and ranking potential presentation candidates.

We then narrow in to find the highest quality investments that can effectively deploy private and philanthropic venture capital in two ways:

1. Growth-First Investments

○Delivers superior economic returns which may include moderate to signficant social and/or spiritual impact
○Demonstrates strong product/market fit 
○Has the potential to disrupt industries and influence culture
○Capitalizes on high-growth sectors, industries, and trends 
○Includes US and International Companies
○Includes start-up companies and companies on a clear path to revenue or already generating revenues; looking for seed through series A/B investment

2. Impact-First Investments
​Target: 25% of portfolio
○Drives human flourishing through directly addressing the world’s greatest needs
○Spiritual: potentially directly sharing gospel and/or making discipleship
○Creates a sustainable solution that address global issues such as poverty, healthcare, education and affordable housing
○Serves marginalized or underserved communities 
○Higher risk profile, potentially delivering concessionary to market rate of return
○Includes US and International companies
○Includes start-up companies and companies on a clear path to revenue or alreadygenerating revenues; looking for seed through Series A/B investment
